Gigi Chi Ying Lam

Gigi is a musician-educator who was born and raised in Hong Kong. She completed her doctoral study at the Royal College of Music, her research focuses on musicians’ pedagogical practice and post-colonial discourses of power & identity within the music practitioners’ community. Gigi participated on MTSC’s Cohort Five to develop a sensory music-making mobile app to improve the accessibility of special needs students in music-making. She is currently a lecturer in community music and social justice at the University of Southampton, and the convenor of the Social Justice SIG of the British Educational Research Association (BERA) continue looking to create a more democratic space for education and music learning.
